About

Joyce Lam is a new music producer, commissioner, and programmer based in London, currently working at the London Symphony Orchestra.

Joyce oversees the LSO’s prominent composer projects, which provide vital support to nurture the next generation of composers. These initiatives—including the LSO Helen Hamlyn Panufnik Composers’ Scheme, Soundhub, and Jerwood Composer+—help composers to realise their potential and establish their professional careers. Each season, she commissions and collaborates with 20-25 composers to deliver diverse new works ranging from full orchestral pieces to electro-acoustic installations and cross-artform collaborations.

As an experienced producer and programmer, Joyce delivers ambitious new music concerts at LSO St Luke’s and manages relationships with key partners, including the venue’s Artist Associate Tangram. Through these concerts, Joyce has produced premieres of works by prominent composers such as Carola Bauckholt, Christophe Bertrand and Liza Lim.

Prior to her time at the LSO, Joyce worked at the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, where she focused on young audience development and widening access to classical music for students and local communities. While there, she inaugurated The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Hong Kong Composers’ Scheme, the region’s first initiative providing local emerging composers the opportunity to write for and work with a professional orchestra. Joyce also worked at the Royal College of Music Museum, raising awareness of the museum’s collection through targeted social media campaigns and educational workshops for young people.

Outside of her full-time work, Joyce frequently shares her expertise within the wider contemporary music community, serving as a panellist for various composer initiatives and as a guest speaker at Goldsmiths, University of London and Sapienza University of Rome.
